Whiteflies can seriously injure host plants by sucking juices from them causing wilting, yellowing, stunting, leaf drop, and in some plants, even eventual death.

Whitefly Control in Florida

Whitefly on a leaf

While the whitefly may not cause death or severe dieback like the ficus whitefly, it affects palm trees and plants in other ways. Its most noticeable symptom is its appearance of white spirals and a build-up of a white, waxy substance on the underside of the leaves. If populations increase and infested plants can become completed covered with the white waxy substance. The palm tree can then become weakened and also disfigured by the black sooty mold that grows on the insect’s excrement (referred to as honeydew).

The sticky honeydew can accumulate on cars, boats, pool decks and patio furniture from infested trees overhead and become extremely messy. Once the insect is under control, the sooty mold and honeydew will eventually disappear. You can protect your palm trees with our safe and effective Whitefly Extermination. Our lawn pest control exterminators are trained to handle any level of infestation.

Signs of a Whitefly Infestation

Whitefly infestations leave behind obvious signs to recognize their presence. They suck the juice from leaves, causing them to wilt, yellow in color, and in some cases, death. If the whitefly infestation grows large enough, they build up a black sooty mold, referred to as honeydew. This can build up on objects in the surrounding area.  If you notice any of these symptoms on your trees, contact our professional exterminators today. We'll eliminate the whitefly population and restore your trees and shrubbery back to health.
